Finally! Diaryland let's me update! So not only is there no internet at our house currently (for some reason Comcast decided it was going to stop working), but it took me like ten minutes to check my aol mail here at school, and like fifteen for diaryland to let me update! What ticks me off even more is that I had like 50 messages at AOL...all of them spam...

What to say, what to say? The music is recorded but not mixed...I so hope we practice this week...

I handed the demo Ian made off to a Doctor from the ER at Borgess...I hope he likes it enough to hire us for his wedding..the studio needs some financing. Tapes are expensive. Equipment in general is expensive and the studio really needs a new camera. and a new mic. and three more cameras.

Next semester is looking...not fun. Mainly because between school and work, I doubt I'll be able to do a movie and i hadn't realized how important that was to me. Maybe I can pull it off. If the studio only did better on the videography end, that COULD be my job.

Writer or filmmaker...why do I always pick uphill battles?

Perhaps that is a good thing. I was thinking today why democracy is flawed, and it is rather simple. Democracy relies on conformity, lives on it. We go by what the masses dictate. But the masses are usually WRONG. So we form this society based on what the masses see as an ideal society, and then we become devestatingly mediocre. Plato said man makes an image of himself, then becomes that image. Nothing more. Our society is looking like it's shifting to something better, but we equate better with monitary value. So we send kids to college to get a "better" life (which is just really a life with more money), and so they create this image of themselves, with a college degree, making so much money, living in a McMansion (to quote Rob), and thats all they do. They become zombies in life, passing in and out of each day like the day before.

It's like the quote in Joe vs. the Volcano, the people who are truly living are the ones who remain in a constant state of awe each and every day.

Make today special. Find something in today that you won't find any other day. Then do the same thing tomorrow, but make it BETTER. That's the only way to avoid mediocrity. And never settle for the best, but strive for more until you feel that rush.
