I was walking to class today and it was bitter cold, last night having been that whole ice storm deal up here in Grand Rapids. I have one solitary glove in my coat, the other one has fallen out somewhere, and being lazy about those things I've yet to really look for it or replace it. For the most part it doesn't matter, since I usually just keep my hands in my coat pocket. Today however I was carrying my hard drive, which comes in this little orange case, and so my right hand was completely exposed to the elements. My left hand was snug in my coat pocket. I decided to put my one solitary glove on my right hand to keep it protected. I switched the hard drive into my left hand, fished out the glove, put it on, and then returned the hard drive to my right. When I returned my left had to my pocket I could almost hear it say (yeah I know this is weird): "Why did you make me go through that? Just to help that other hand?" I said to my left hand (in my mind, of course, not aloud where everyone walking down the sidewalk could hear me): "You are all apart of my body so you have to help each other even if that means a small amount of discomfort or pain." Now, to some of you this entry must sound bizarre, but after I had thought these things I immediately thought about the passage in the Bible where Christ says the body is His church, the hands, the feet, etc. And I thought about how each part of the Church, whether that be in the individual denominations or the personages, need to watch out for each other even if causes them pain. I don't think we do a lot of watching out for each other anymore. Not since the disciples were first starting the church. I know this is all in the Bible and anyone who has read that passage will understand what I meant, but just this morning I was reminded of that and thought I'd share it.
That's all.
